What Does a County Treasurer Do in  Tyler County?

  • Receives and deposits all county revenues
  • Acts as chief liaison between the county and depository banks
  • Disburses funds upon the order of the Commissioners Court
  • Records receipts and reconciles bank statements
  • Acts as the county’s investment officer and required to submit regular reports on county finance to the members of the Commissioners Court
  • Processes the County employees bi-weekly payroll
  • Acts as the Human Resources Administrator for the County
  • Maintains and updates the Employee Handbook & Policies
  • Disburses Juror payments
  • Reports Unclaimed Property to the Texas Comptroller

    Mrs. Leann Monk is a lifelong resident of Tyler County and is a 1992 graduate from Warren High School. She and her husband Rodney, have three beautiful daughters - Kacie (Account Executive), Allicyn (RN and Professional Photographer), and Mallory (Cosmetologist). They raised their family in Colmesneil, where all three girls graduated as Bulldogs from Colmesneil ISD. After 26 years in Colmesneil, the Monks moved back home to Warren in 2017.

    Treasurer Monk has always been civic minded and has an undying love for Tyler County. She has served in various leadership roles, as well as on serval local and statewide boards.

    During her first term as Treasurer, she was selected by her peers as Outstanding Treasurer of the Year in Region 10; and in September of 2022, she was sworn in to serve on the County Treasurers Association of Texas Executive Board as the board treasurer and has continued to climb the ladder of leadership within her association. In 2025, Mrs. Monk served as the CTAT Legislative Chair educating and informing our state leaders on the importance of the County Treasurer. She was also able to submit legislation to declare April 8th as the first ever Treasurers Day at the Capitol. She currently serves as the CTAT President-Elect and chairs the Resolutions and Fundraising Committees for her association . In January 2027, she will begin her third term as as Tyler County Treasurer and could not be more proud to be able to continue to serve the citizens of this amazing county.
